I’m not sure why you want to delete your Reddit account but for whatever reason, this post will help you with just that.
After reading this post, you will know how to delete Reddit account permanently so whether you want to delete your personal Reddit account, that of your friend or that of your partner, you will learn how to do that here.
You must be sure that you really want to do this.
This is because this action cannot be undone.
Once you delete your Reddit account all information in the account will be irrevocably lost.
So you might be sure of this before proceeding with deleting a Reddit account permanently.
Now that you know this, let’s get straight into it.
How to delete Reddit account permanently
Deleting a Reddit account is pretty simple.
You do not need to contact a member of the support team to help you with this as it can be easily done by visiting the settings page on your profile.
This will be a case of deleting your account on a mobile device.
The same step works if you are on a desktop trying to delete your Reddit account.
So quickly, here are the steps:
- At the top right-hand corner, click on your profile
- Click on settings
- Then scroll all the way down up until you get to help and FAQ section
- Tap the link
- On the text box that pops, simply type in “deactivate” the hit search
- Then you should see a Reddit post from the list saying “how do I deactivate my account”
- Tap on it and then tap on where it says click on this link
- Now you will be taken to a page where they will require you to log in to the account that you want to delete
Here are a couple of things to note before deleting your Reddit account.
Once you delete or deactivate your account, your posts history is still going to be there for everyone to see but people will no longer be able to identify who made the post.
And each of your posts will be labeled at the top of the post as “deleted”.
So if you want your posts to be deleted along with your Reddit account, then you might have to go through them manually to delete them.
But that will seem a bit frustrating if you have a lot of posts on your Reddit account that you want to delete.
This may be a fault on Reddit because this is the only way you can delete your posts on Reddit.
Once you have all your posts deleted, you can go ahead and delete your account.
To finish the deleting process, enter your username and password again and check the box that says “I understand that deactivated accounts are not recoverable” then click on “deactivate account” and you are done!
You will be logged out on the completion of the deleting process.
Unfortunately, you may still have some of your posts on Reddit but this was the only way to delete a Reddit account as at the time of updating this post.
If they make updates on how you can delete your Reddit account, I’ll be sure to make an update, too.
